QUALITY ABBREVIATIONS:

AC = Acetate

Acetate is a substance made from cellulose from coniferous trees and cotton lint residue, which is converted into plastic during a chemical process. The fibers of acetate are light, soft, smooth, firm and have a silky sheen. The material is supple, hardly shrinks or wrinkles and dries quickly. Furthermore, acetate allows air and sweat to pass through. 

 

BO = Bamboo

Bamboo is a fabric that has many advantages. Bamboo is a very durable material, has a high wearing comfort and a beautiful appearance. It is a real asset to the clothing industry. The fibers are purified from natural bamboo through a special, sustainable, chemical process.

 

CO = Cotton

Cotton is a fabric that consists of the seed pods of the cotton plant. The plant fibers are rigid and hold each other well, which is why cotton is a fairly firm fabric. Cotton is made shiny and silky through a special process called 'mercerising'. Cotton clothing feels very pleasant to the skin, because it has the quality to absorb moisture easily but also to repel it. 

 

CUP = Cupro

Cupro is a viscose fabric made of cellulose from coniferous trees, cotton lint residue and copper compound. The fabric falls smoothly, wrinkles little and has a silky shine with a luxurious look.

 

CV = Rayon

Rayon is a viscose fabric consisting of a synthetic fiber of natural material. Viscose consists mainly of cellulose, which comes from wood. The fabric feels soft, has a luxurious appearance and absorbs moisture well. 

 

EA = Elasthan

Elasthan is a fabric consisting of elastic fibers. This fabric distinguishes itself from other synthetic materials by its very high elasticity and strength. Furthermore, the fabric absorbs little moisture and thus dries quickly.

 

F = Alcantara / Suede

Alcantara is a fabric with special properties and is similar to suede. It consists of a composition of polyester and polyurethane. The fabric feels fine and is strong with a long lifespan. In addition, the fabric is easy to clean. 

 

G = Gabardine

Gabardine is a fabric made from wool. The fabric can also be a mixture of cotton, artificial fiber and wool or be fully synthetic. Gabardine fabric is waterproof, durable and wrinkle-resistant. 

 

LI = Linen

Linen is a fabric made from natural, durable fibers. Linen has many properties in common with cotton, but is somewhat more rigid. Over time linen becomes softer and stronger. Just like cotton, linen is often used in summer clothing because of its cooling effect. 

 

LU = Lurex

Lurex is a fabric made of metallised polyester and has a silvery sheen. The fabric is strong, retains its shape, does not crease easily, is resistant to sunlight and is easy to clean. 

 

LY = Lycra

Lycra is a fabric consisting of an elastic fiber. The fabric is very popular for (sports) wear because it is lightweight and breathable. It is a sturdy and durable fabric that is antibacterial, anti-UV and moisture wicking. 

 

MA = Modacrylic

Modacrylic is a fabric made from synthetic copolymer. The fabric is soft, strong, resilient and retains its shape. Modacryl can be easily dyed and is fast drying. 

 

Md = Modal

Modal is a viscose fabric made of cellulose from beech wood. This organic textile is stronger than regular viscose and wrinkles less. The fabric has a beautiful sheen, feels incredibly soft and is very breathable. Modal is very comfortable to wear. 

 

ME = Metal

Metal is a fabric consisting of metal fibers. The fabric can serve as an antistatic material in safety clothing, but it is also woven, braided and knitted into many fashionable fabrics and used as decoration. The fabric is also antibacterial. 

 

NYL = Nylon

Nylon is a synthetic fabric. It is a very strong, shape-retaining and wrinkle-free fabric. It also has the property of drying quickly. 

 

PA = Polyamide

Polyamide is a fabric consisting of synthetic fibers. Polyamide is a popular fabric in the clothing industry because it is strong, light and wrinkle-free. The fabric is also colourfast and does not retain moisture. 

 

PAN = Acrylic

Acrylic is a fabric made of synthetic fibers. The fabric looks a lot like wool, but insulates heat better. Furthermore, the fabric is very colourfast, easily washable and anti-bacterial. 

 

PC = Polyacrylic

Polyacrylic is a synthetic fabric that is very similar to wool. The fiber curls strongly, giving it a thicker and woolier appearance. The fiber of this fabric is resistant to wear and tear, soft, voluminous and heat-insulating. 

 

PE = Polyethylene

Polyethylene is a very durable fabric due to the addition of additives during the production process. The fabric is strong, hardwearing and resistant to temperatures between 70 and 90 degrees Celsius. 

 

PL = Polyester

Polyester is a fabric made of synthetic fiber. It has a more natural appearance than most synthetic fabrics. Polyester retains its shape and color, does not crease much and has good moisture transport. 

PP = Polypropylene

Polypropylene is a fabric made of synthetic fibers. It is strong, very durable, colourfast, anti-bacterial, non-static and does not absorb moisture. This fabric is therefore more water-repellent than polyester. The fabric also retains less heat. 

 

PU = Polyurethane

Polyurethane is a rubbery plastic. The fabric combines the properties of plastic with the elasticity of rubber. This elastic, water-repellent fabric is often used in sportswear. 

 

PVC = PolyVinyl Chloride

PVC is a fabric that consists of a back of woven polyester fibers coated with a glossy plastic layer. PVC fabrics can be produced in very bright colors and are elastic. 

 

RA = Ramee

Ramee is a sustainable fabric made of organic fiber. The fabric is made from a plant species. Ramee is very fine on the skin and feels luxurious. It has a natural shine, is resistant to bacteria and highly absorbent. The fabric is hardwearing and lasts up to 8 times longer than cotton. 

 

SE = Silk

Silk is a substance that comes from the cocoon of the caterpillar of the silk butterfly. The process of cultivation, care and reeling is very intensive. Silk is a supple, soft and shiny fabric that wears very light on the skin. Furthermore, the fabric does not crease easily and is heat insulating. 

 

SP = Spandex

Spandex is a fabric that consists of a synthetic polymer made from polyurethane rubber. Spandex fibers are lightweight, have a shiny surface and stretch very well. Furthermore, the fabric is wear-resistant and colourfast. 

 

VI = Viscose

Viscose is a fabric made from wood cellulose and cotton, it is a synthetic fiber of natural material. Viscose resembles cotton, but is soft like silk. It is a skin-friendly, colourfast fabric that falls smoothly. 

 

WM = Mohair

Mohair is a fabric that is similar to wool, but has other properties that make it a luxurious fiber. The fabric has a beautiful luster and is very colourfast. Mohair is one of the most durable textiles and will last for years. 

 

WO = Wool

Wool is a fabric made of natural fibers and has many good properties, which allow it to be used in a variety of ways. Due to its texture, wool is a resilient, voluminous and heat-insulating fabric. In addition, wool does not need to be washed often due to its dirt-repellent properties.
